Hi.

I want to make a panel with an image file that I can light up and down with DMX control.  To do so, I tried to use the Texture Generator feature on the material.

When I do not apply any image file, the Texture Generator allows me to light the whole panel up and down, but as soon as I apply an image file on Luminance Texture, it no longer turns off.

Is there any way to solve it?

I am doing this to mimic a star cloth that I can control from my light desk.

You can not use texture generators and texture images simultaneously.

A workaround I can think of to DMX control the luminance of an image would be:
1. Insert a surface (e.g. a box with 0 width) into your project.
2. Create a material with back projection to 100% and apply it to the surface
3. Create a media player and load the image to it.
4. Insert a projector (e.g. Generic video projector) behind the surface and apply the media to it.
5. Aim the projector to the surface and once you patch the projector, you may control the intensity through DMX

Hi.  Thank you for your advice.

Yes, I have managed to project an image with DMX control to simulate a star cloth.  However, I am still encountering a problem: the projection is way too dark if I set the base material colour to black, even if I set the intensity to 1000%.  I have a good view if I set the panel to a lighter colour, but then I start to see the panel when I have other lights in the front.

Is there perhaps any additional material setting to avoid this situation?
