Adopting the ℄ character

news

We are proud to announce that we have adopted the ℄ (centre line) character as part of the Unicode Consortium's Adopt a Character program!

Making sure that Capture functions well with as many languages as possible is very important to us. Capture has been available in multiple languages since the start and with the help of our translators we currently maintain no less than 15 translations.

We are currently busy working on Capture 2024 and an important part of this is implementing more text display and editing capabilities from the ground up. To achieve this we need to analyse text and determine things like whether characters are upper or lower case and which scripts they are part of. The Unicode Consortium's ICU software library is of great help to us here.

The Unicode Consortium is a non-profit corporation devoted to developing, maintaining, and promoting software internationalization standards and data, particularly the Unicode Standard, which specifies the representation of text in all modern software products and standards.

The ℄ (centre line) character can be found both in the Unicode Consortium's Letterlike Symbols chart and on technical drawings around the world!
