Is there a way to manipulate bars like you can manipulate lines (by selecting one endpoint and move only that?)

I cant get the "convert lines into pipes" to work the way I expect it to work (by simply drawing some lines where I want the pipes to be and then converting the lines into pipes via the tool Edit->model->convert lines to pipes.

The best way (for me anyway) would be to select a "pipe/bar tool" and then 1 click is one end of a bar and second click is the other end of the bar. And after that you enter the Y value.
