Okay,

I have had this problem across all versions and Platforms of Capture. I Create a Truss tower with Truss base, Truss and Lights. I then group it all together. Now, I want to clone that group and move it to a specific X,Y,Z, coordinate. If I do this through object properties, it will move each individual item of that group to that position instead of moving the group center to that position. This is quite annoying when I have LD's looking for specific local for towers and groups of lights and I have to use the move tool off of a 0,0,0 position. I would rather just use my onscreen clone and then assign the group it's new position.

Has this been resolved yet? If I select the group, can I not treat that group as a item just as I can rotate the group as a whole?

Hi,

You can move and position any selection of objects to a location by using the "Transform.." function on the selection. This function has both a relative and absolute operational mode, which allows you to achieve what you are referring to. This function also respected whether you are making paper adjustments or not.

As a followup question, how do you control the absolute rotation of a grouped object?

You may use the properties menu for that as long as the individual objects of the group share the same initial rotation angles. Otherwise, you need to use the relative angle of the transformation tool in each view (top, front, left).
