Hi! Thanks for the stream today Capture Team. One of my request got answered, But I want to give a bit more information about what I'am missing. I would like to link a group of fixtures to the position of an object (for example a truss), and then the fixtures will use the objects fysical value as it's origio. When dealing with trusses that are in an odd position, for example diagonal, I have to either start positon the fixtures on the truss in center, or just flex with it manually. When using the "Swing to positon" function, we are using the universal position information. But I would like to be able to change the position of the fixture with the Center of the object. Example: I have a Diagonal Truss that is 4 meters . And I'am going to hang 3 fixtures. If this truss would be in the center of the stage the positons would be Fixture 1: x -2 m Fixture 2: x 0 m Fixture 3: x 2 m But when I'am moving the truss -45* their fysical position will Fixture 1: x -1,414 m Fixture 2: x 0 m Fixture 3: x 1,414 m And if I move the truss 4 meters to the right the position would be: Fixture 1: x -2,586 m Fixture 2: x 4 m Fixture 3: x 5,414 m When I'am going to hang this truss... In the real world... I would never measure the XYZ values... I would measure the truss, and take the values from there. In this case: -2, 0, 2. I hope this makes sence... and is possible to do! Sincearly
I quite like the way Sketchup handles this, when double clicking to enter a group, the group's origin is preferred over the global one, so everything drags around in a way that makes sense.
I'm not sure if the data entry works the way you are suggesting in Sketchup as I havn't used it in years, but I generally agree that measurements relative to the origin of the group (center of the truss in your example) are more useful than global measurements in this scenario.
