Hello !

I'm trying to run demo version on linux mint 22 via Wine to decide or not to buy licence.

I tried Capture 2025 first but to focus projectors in live mode, I can't focus profiles, neither 614sx or source four. It make all the stage bright, or didn't do anything at all.

So I tried with capture 2023, same issues.

So I tried with capture 2018 and à the opening, it says (I try to translate it from french) :

"Capture encounter issu with graphic card"

So may be it's the main problem that make 2023 and 2025 doesn't work.

I have a lenove thinkpad T14 with a Intel Comet Lake-U GT2 [UHD Graphics].

If I wasn't on linux, does this graphic card supposed to be enough to run capture ?

thank you.

I hope my english is good enough

Question 1: Capture is made for Windows or MacOs. Not for Linux. Why would you want to base your decision on a crippled experience.
Question 2: I cannot imagine that you can see a fixture producing light, but you are not able to focus it. Did you see any of the tutorials on YouTube?

So nice to read nice people who are may be good light designer but poor political aware people.

so question 1 : linux is the only real free and open experience. So my decision is not base on a cripple but on a ethical experience.

question 2 : sorry for your lack of imagination but this is the reality of my situation and yes, I saw the tutorials on youtube.

and just for information, the problem should come from wine because with a virtual machine windows, capture woks, even with the poor capability of the virtual graphic card.

Hi Nours,

I am sorry my post wasn’t clear enough. I meant to ask you, why you are basing your decision whether or not to buy Capture, on a situation that is less than ideal in the sense that Capture was never intended to run on Linux. So, if you want to see if you like the software it might be better to try it on Windows or MacOS.

It is not uncommon for people that are new to Capture that they are not aware of the online manual, the forums or the tutorials as a source of information or a place to get started.

I cannot read anything in this, that could benefit of more political awareness. I do understand why you would want to stay away from big tech in general. If you find Capture good enough and decide to invest in the platform, you might want to suggest to the developers that they could port the software to Linux.
