Sequential : Being able to open multiple options at the same time... Unit, Channel, Patch... Maybe open them all at once? And fill them all in at once.

Yes, please. I think this feature request has been made before.

We gave this a try and made some sketches. You end up with a horrible huge dialog that is hard to overview. We acknowledge the inconvenience of calling several "sequential" commands after each other, but don't believe a "mother of all sequential dialogs" is better.

I've tried to make a mock-up myself. I cannot say that it is huge and horrible pop-up. I've now only grouped all fixture related sequential properties. Location would need a separate window.

That is huge and horrible in my book. It's also missing the new fifth one for P3 Fixture Numbers and there is a sixth in the pipeline for locations. It has also been requested that we add a few user fields, which will surely require this too. This type of design doesn't scale.

It's a shame because it would immediately save a lot of mouse clicks.

Alternatively, I suggest enabling it in Design>Fixtures, allowing you to collectively change the table data in sequence.

This might be a bit form over function design then. The pop-up does not need to accomodate more than four categories, because these (Unit, Circuit, Patch and Channel) are the ones beloning to fixtures in gereral.. The others are used for special types, like P3 fixtures or locations.

It would stil make sense to keep your drop down menu with all the separate items, but to add one extra that does the action for a whole group of attributes. Then you'd get something along the lines of:

Sequential ->

  • Unit
  • Circuit
  • Patch
  • Channel
  • P3
  • Location
  • [All Fixture]

The last item would then open the pop-up window as proposed in my other post.

It makes workflows so much faster. The grouped attributes usually follow the same logix on a per truss basis. So ins stead of having to select every truss four times and selecting sequential for evry attribute plus doing that for all your trusses, it would be a lot wuicker.

Hello All,

Honnestly (and sorry in Avance Lars for any inconvenance ) I'am 100 percent agree with Florian and Oz, the purpose of Capture Is to be simple and save time and clics, so in my opinion

The Graphic dialog box thez submit is very clear and simple, and will be a very powerfull and pratical way to merge multiple serial function.

I perfectlty understand that the goal of Capture is to keep clear view and "simple" menu, dialbox etc... but keep in mind that lot of users come form other sofware ( wyg, vector ) so, a "little" dial box for serial like they show us, is very clear and understanable compare to other 3d lighting software.

+1
