Hi all,

I've found when importing fixtures with an MVR from Vectorworks, the fixture orientation is often different in Capture from the Vectorworks file.

Here's an example with an Ayrton, GLP, Martin & Robe fixtures:

Vectorworks

Capture

Is this related to Vectorworks' or Capture's implementation of MVR? Is there a workaround, or do I have to rotate all my fixtures either pre or post import to get the correct orientation in Capture?

Cheers,

To be followed.

I have also relatively identical issues.

Made a design from a sketchup from set designer.
Technical director came later with vectorworks master file
In order to apply to global project workflow, we replaced the sketchup data with the one in the vector to update with realistic environment. By regular export of environment it’s good. Now we have to merge the light and suggested trusses into the vector master file. And that we’re come nightmare. about 400 fixtures with ID, patch, mode and specific position//rotation.

Vectorworks seem to disagree with MVR that not include a GDTF reference fixture type//mode. They are like transparent, unselectable, undistinguishable. Workaround was to export x amount of MVR filtered by fixture type//mode cause the only moment you have them selected is when you import, so it’s the only moment where we can update model.

My question is : is it possible to manage in the future to add dummy GDTF placeholders with maybe the fixture symbol, that way it’s make things easier, checking also if the MVR Standard did not get update. Would be amazing also if name can be Unit instead of fixture type, that way we can set name of fixture by purpose in console.

Other issue : look like the position and rotation of fixture, goes crazy with certain amount of fixtures and customs angles.

Thanks for helping us make our work easier day after day.

I am also in the same boat.  My workflow is building rigs/ stage / scenic & venue in Vectorworks then exporting to MVR with GTFD fixtures.  MVR goes straight into Capture and MA3 with almost zero problems retaining all the position and patch information, it's a great process.  However, in MA3D all the fixtures are flipped, it's a real pain to manually rotate hundreds of fixtures in Capture, some sort of global fixture rotate command would be very helpful.
