It's actually relatively high on our priority list, many users would like to see this work!
It is actually quite doubtful that it would reduce the file size though, I suspect it will grow significantly.
Hi.
do you have any update on exporting PDF in vector? it's starting to be something i really need.
thank you!
any news about vector print?
+1 from our side, with one more reason and a possible first step.
We hand Capture plots to a crew app that reads the drawing on the phone on site. With a vector PDF, for example from Vectorworks, the app reads the fixture numbers, patch, and circuits straight from the plot, matches them to the MVR, and keeps addresses up to date when they change on site. With Capture plots this does not work, because the whole drawing area is embedded as 600 ppi image tiles. Only the title block, the symbol key, and text boxes on the sheet are real text.
On the file size (@Capture): agreed, full vector geometry may well get bigger. That's fine as an option next to raster. But even a partial step would help a lot: export the fixture labels and annotations (channel, patch, circuit, notes) as real text with embedded fonts, on top of the raster drawing. That would keep the file size about the same, make plots searchable, and let other tools read them. Text boxes already come out as vector today, so maybe that's a smaller step than vectorising everything.
Happy to share a sample (MVR + CSV + PDF) if that helps.
