TDR Settings?

When opening Capture 21 on my Windows 10 machine, I receive the following prompt:

"The TDR settings of your computer's video card have been tampered with.  This could lead to stability issues"

I have a Razer Studio with an NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 max-q graphics card.  I don't mess with anything under the hood so wondering if this is truly an issue, or just some weird compatibility bug.

Thanks

Hello Silas,

I just buy a new computer wit a Nvidia rtx A3000 GPU. I spent 2 days to install all programs on it, I started Capture this morning and I have the same message about tdr , I read the Capture message about TDR Issues, did you find any solution or did you re-install Windows. Frankly after two days of installation, I do not want to start again without knowing if it will change anything.

Until now Capture ids running, I don't know if it can dammage my computer?

Please send me news about your case

The warning is about modified TDR settings, which might, or might not, make your computer unstable. Your experience with Capture might suffer as a result of this so we feel you should be warned. You should go on using Capture as normal, while you can turn off the warning from options. From what I have seem some installed software might trigger the warning, like for example some sw from Adobe, but again your computer might be fine. On the other hand if it is not you will know why it is unstable.

Hello Vangelis, my computer looks stable, it is a brand new one, I was a bit disapointed when I saw the message, also because the rendering is less efficient with the rtx 3000 card, before I had a gforce 2080 maxQ, but the laptop was too delicate, so I change for a mobile workstation.

I installed Adobe suite, but I don't ahve any message when it runs, I have the TDR message  only with Capture.

Another question, when I  do a rendering of a video snapshot, I saw that the work done by the GPU and not the CPU, is it normal? I thought GPU was used for screen only and not for computation?

Capture detects upon startup that the TDR settings are tampered and therefore warns you that this is the case. I assume software that changed them would not care to warn you that they have, right? :)

As you can read in our FAQ Capture renders on the GPU not the CPU, so it all looks fine. And when you compare graphics cards you can possibly know what to expect from the passmark comparison test included in the same link.

Last question,

It is strange because,  my last laptop calculed a video rendering in about 20 minutes with a geforce RTX 2080 with Max Q Design ,

With the new on on it takes like 27 minutes, however its RTX A3000 video card has a similar G3D Mark rating?

Do you think I have a problem somewhere?

Thank you Vangelis!
