I am teaching a lighting class online during the pandemic. So far, Capture has been incredibly useful. However, we have run into a problem with the latest version. In the previous version, instruments could be patched and controlled with the built-in dimmer in groups. Afterward, one could save a cue simply by saving the file with an appropriate name. In the latest version, once an instrument has been patched or imported from Vectorworks with a patch value, it cannot be controlled with the built-in dimmer nor controlled as groups. Unpatched, cues cannot be recorded to be opened later in a class session. I have looked to download the previous version and reinstall it but student versions are not available in the download archives.
Have you tried Capture 2020.0.51?
Still no good. If instruments are patched - no intensity control. Unpatch and they work. Color data is all lost. It can be seen in the VW export, both gel number and RGB value. But there is no place to put it in Capture. Adding fields in VW to match Capture aren't recognized in importing. In addition, all fixtures lose their focus in importing. Nothing is set for the "Tilt Focus" value, so all fixtures point straight down. I can use the VW "Tilt" value there and that helps, but all the instruments have a backward pan orientation. Those that should aim right, point left. Those that should go left, right. It is as if there should be a negative multiplier assigned.
