Hi.

In looking to buy the software. A question I have is when you export from capture to ma3D, does it export the fixturemodels too or will they be imported as the standard default fixtures models in ma3D?

Thanks!

Hi,

Capture only exports fixture data (ie. type, position and patch) and no model data to the MA2 XML file format.

What happens is you build your model in capture or import a model I to capture from your stage designer.

You then setup your patch and addresses and fixture types as per the real world, and then export the data. Capture will spit out a file which you need to paste I to the layers folder of the gma folder on your usb or directly into the Windows ma folder found in the hidden folder app data on your c drive.

In ma you can then run a macro that will Changedest and enter livesetup and then execute the command to import that file at layer x

Once done, ma will show all your fixtures as dimmers but those dimmers will have correct patch fixture id and 3d placement. You then just have to change the fixture type to those of the fixtures you originally had in your capture project and then hour done. It is exactly the same as the process of doing it from wysiwyg but it's better because your using capture haha.
