Is it possible to output PSN from Capture into the MA2?

Reason I ask is for quick focus positions. Select the fixtures. Click on the location on Capture and the information could be sent to MA as a tracker. It wouldn't be prefect on a live stage (though I guess that depends on how accurate your model is) but would get you close for some quick cleaning up with the console encoders for preset creation during preprogramming.

Maybe you already can but I haven;t found it just yet.

Many thanks

Hi,

No, Capture does not generate PSN output. It is an interesting idea, we will take it into consideration!

Hey there,

years later I also have a use case where I'd need Capture to send out PSN:

I am currently programming a tour which later on will have PSN sources but of course not here at home. It would be great to get PSN data from Capture, e.g. from DMX movers that I can move from the desk to simulate stuff.

Is there any news on this?

Thanks and kind regards
Julian

There is no news on this. In fact I don't think anyone has brought it up again until now. We have since made some improvements to how you can set the position of motion controllers in Capture from the control pane, so that if you use them to set the height of your flybars you can work them that way. Apart from this we haven't really made any progress on the matter.

Which systems do you work with that would be receiving the PSN data?

Hey there,

two years later I noticed I didn't reply to you.

The use case was to have PSN data generated by Robospot Controllers sent into the MA2 system and "track" lights this way.

In previz, I wanted to test that and therefore needed PSN-data. The easiest way would have been if Capture's DMX movers would have generated the data.

What I ended up doing was generating PSN data using the official C++ implementation and using that in the MA and Capture.

Regards,
Julian

Just to add a few options to this, there are various ways you could generate/spoof PSN data these days. There are integrations with various free tools  like chataigne or touchdesigner, and there are some free solutions that can generate it like Creative Connor's Spikemark, and there's even a plugin for Unreal Engine. There are more options with paid software like Showcockpit, Stage Precision/SP Grid.
