I feel like I am missing incredibly simple here. I drop in a generic pipe and place a number of fixtures on the pipe. The big purple blue dot appears when I place them to snap them on the pipe. Then, I go to move the pipe but the fixtures do not move with it. I can group them and then they will all move together, but I lose the ability to manually enter placement dimensions. If I enter new x,y,z coordinates, it applies them to each individual item and not the center point of the group.
My use case is this. I have added a pipe with fixutres and have everything exactly the way I want it except for the exact distance and height of the pipe itself. I can't get those measurements until later. I was hoping I could just reposition the pipe with the new coordinates and all of the fixtures would stay attached.
Please let me know if I am missing something obvious here. Or is it just not possible?

Hi,
Your use case is not really supported at the moment - fixtures aren't hung to the pipe in the sense that moving the pipe itself will bring the fixtures with it.
Your best workaround is to select the pipe only and copy it's height. Then select the truss with fixtures and use the Transform command. Enter the desired height minus the height you copied. This will move the assembly to the correct height.
Lars,
Thank you. I think the absolute mode of the Transform command will do exactly what I need. I do have a question about that command though. Exactly what is considered the reference point when you select a group of objects? Is it basically the exact center of the entire group?
Yes, the absolute center.
