Capture doesn't send DMX. So 1 universe means that you can only simulate lights of 1 universe. If you need 2 universes, you need Capture Duet/

Are you using DMX out of the ML to a USB dongle? Not sure of how you're connecting to Capture.

As you know Atlas Solo only supports 1 Universe. So if you're looking to have more than 512 channels of DMX, then the answer is no.

However, if the 2nd dmx output port of your ML is configured to 1-512, or within the confines of 1 Universe, then yes.

Note: In Atlas under the Universe tab, you can right click on your external universe and select Patch base from the sub-menu to change the starting address of one Universe.

Thanks a million. very helpful however I did buy the solo version for now and I can always upgrade later.

As far as connecting, I am going USB directly into my SFML and running smart soft to edit and control sequences and fixture patches. I then connect the universe 1 on the Capture atlas, to My smartsoft external universe 1. this allows me to run the lights on Capture with my console... however it also gives me the ability to work all of my moving heads very easily with the Capture software by right click dragging my focus on my selected moving heads, thus changing the parameters of the pan/tilt appropriately to each fixture. of course assuming your drawings are 100% to scale I find it extremely useful.
