I am planning on connecting my console to Capture, but the console only outputs DMX and not ARTnet. So do I just need to get a DMX to ARTnet converter? These converters aren't cheap so I just want to make sure it will work.
Also, Is a network switch required to connect a console to Capture? Or can I just connect directly from the ARTnet output to the computer's LAN port?

ELC dmXLan buddy is a cheap node and yes it can be connected directly to the pc/Mac and it will work.

The Capture manual says you have to set the IP address of your console in order to work. How would I do that when my console doesn't output ARTnet and thus doesn't have network settings?

The only reason to set the IP address of the console is if it does output Art-Net. If it doesn't, then you don't need to worry about it.
