Hi Forum & Capture Team,

I've just upgraded to Argo V21.1.15 and found that the stage atmosphere in the 3D is not what it used to be with previous versions.

If the camera I'm viewing from is 90 degrees of the fixture's beam, there is no atmosphere effect. In other words, no visible beam. But If I start to move the camera into the beam, or view right down it's barrel, the atmosphere (haze) appears.

I've messed around with view and rendering settings, but have found no change with the exception of what atmosphere (haze) is visible within the camera's view.

Am I missing something new that I'm unaware of? I'd be happy to send off some snapshots if it helps.

I'd like to hear your feedback regarding this issue.

Thanks for you attention!

Johnny

Update!

So I've updated my second machine to v21.1.15 and found no issue. Perhaps it's a hardware issue with the first computer I've installed with the new update? More to come...

It's confirmed!
It is a hardware issue with the first computer. I managed a workaround with opening the program with integrated graphics rather than the high performance option. Weird.

The computer that has this problem:
MSI
Intel i7-4700MQ
Nvidia GTX 780M 4GB
16GB DDR

Hi,

We are curious to hear whether you have tried with the latest 21.1.20 version and are still seeing the same problem?

Hi Lars,

Thanks you for the response and sorry for the late reply.

It is still an issue. I'm currently up to date with 21.1.23

I'm messing around with it right now, but the only thing that makes the beams visible without looking right into it's aperture, is to bypass video acceleration prior to launching Argo 21.1.23.

HI Lars,

I found the problem. Just as I guessed, it was the computer not Argo 21.1.23.

The the video software controlling the 3D rendering needed to be reset to the default settings. (not sure how and why it changed)

But after doing so, the atmosphere is now showing just as it should.

Thank you so much to you and your team for the excellent, continued support of Capture.

Cheers!

Hi Lars,

looks like I jumped the gun a little.

Although resetting the software app for the video hardware fixed the issue with the atmosphere appearing at all angles, now the fps has dropped dramatically. I've lowered all renderings and that has only given the program a slight increase of fps. Also, I have lowered the amount of Atmosphere to 0.5% and still have no increase of the fps.

I will continue to work at this.

Thanks!

Ok.....It's fixed.

I went direct to nvidia's site to search for the latest driver(s). And behold, I needed to manually update the video driver even though the software is set for auto-update.

- haze visible at all angles CHECK

- fps not longer bogged down CHECK

- bang head against wall CHECK

wooo hooo!

Thanks again for such an awesome program!
