Good day.
Is there a future update in progress where Vectorworks mvr exports can be imported to Capture Symphony 2026 version 2026.0.39 so that it regognize all equipment that is available in both software other than ligthing fixtures, here is an example.
Prolyte Truss pieces brought to capture from Vectorwork in any type of format only sees it as geomatry and therefore wont pull trhough to reporting items and locations.
LED panels e.g Absen range is available in both software but again brought to Capture it does not know what it is and cant be reported or even act as the internal LED panel within Capture.
This is so frustrating as drafts mainly start within Vectorworks and the brought to Capture for additional paperwork and viz.
Please advise the correct way of already possible or if not if this could be looked into soon.
Thank you
Generally speaking the answer is simply no.
In order to have competing software there needs to be some difference between them. The differences can lie both in the user interface, the file format and the library. Some features and behaviours place requirements on all three. For library data consider things like level of detail (affects performance), choice of materials (affects how good the visualisation looks), snapping behaviours (requires magnets with specific locations and properties) and reporting information (Capture library items have specific data in a specific structure). The idea of a common exchange format that doesn't sacrifice some of these possibilities is unrealistic.
In reality we'll continue trying to bridge the gaps, but it's an endless race.
We'd rather learn what we need to improve in Capture so you don't need VectorWorks Spotlight (the Spotlight distinction is important here, we're not aiming to become a full 3D modelling software).
