ETC EOS Nomad flashes the rig in offline visualisation mode every aprox 3 mins 35 seconds.
This evening on one of these flashes, the whole rig, set and fixtures started glowing.
No matter what I did, I could not get rig of it. Turning back to old smoke improved the issue, but it remained, only closing capture and reopening it restored the set and fixtures back to normal, however on every rig flash it comes right back.
I timed the interval of the flashes then recorded the next one and took some screen shots below.
Before the rig flash:
After the rig flash:
This is with no fixtures active at all.
Yesterday I had a one off similar issue, which I found that the smoke box had an address assigned (which I had not done) and removing that solve the issue.
I check this after the issue, and the smoke box was still showing as not being patched, however, if I entered the cell it populated with a value, sometimes deleting it presented another address, sometimes it goes blank and saves as unpatched, but when I goi back in it displays another address, sometimes the same address that was deleted, sometimes another.
Sometimes the cell also shows an infinity symbol
Its all a bit confusing but renders it unusable.
I am going to try a re-install
Uninstalling and re-installing did not fix the issue.
Deleting the smoke box did not fix the issue.
This is my rig with no lights on and no ambient light, and the smoke box deleted.
I've been using nomad with capture 2025 on a windows 11 PC.
You realise that regular flashing is built in to the nomad when being used in visualise mode, to stop you using it in any way for live events..?
So that's normal; however it's never been the case for me that the other symptoms you describe happen.
you might try updating Nomad to its latest build ?
Otherwise it does seem to perhaps be something with the nomad / capture 2026 release...
Thanks for the reply.
Yep, aware its normal for nomad and is there to stop you using it in live events.
Nomad rig flash seemd to be the trigger, or at least i thought it did, as it seemed to be on every rig flash it would break something and cause a permenant glow.
I tried to upload a video which made it more clear, but the limit was only 1MB, so just took scren shots of the issue.
After trying everything in the exiting show file, i went back to basics, new file with a single unit and all was fine, that was when i noticed that the rig flash was more often than what ever was triggereing the issue and was less than the 3.5 minutes of the reocuring issue.
So i imported all the data and models ect from the issue file into a new file, and as i started writing this reply all was good and it had gone past the time where it usually causes the isuue, but i just check back as i am writing this and the new file has now started doing it as well, with a permenant ambient glow.
while you are waiting for a reply from bigger brains why not try it in 2025?
If you are using 2026, presumably you have 2025?
If not, you can still download a demo of any prior release.
that would at least tell you if it was a capture 2026 or a nomad issue..
otherwise just email support@capture.se directly, they are pretty into it.
Thanks, i have emailed then and pointed them here.
I tried to load it into 2025, but it came up with a warning saying it was created in a newer version, but i dont remember if that was a blocker or just a conversion waring, so will try again and see.
It is definately related to the Nomad rig flash though, in a screen recording i just took, there are frame of the righ flash then it seems like anything with a texture has a after glow.
This was static, two light on, nothing else and i just left it for a few minutes till it flashed then glowed.
The intensity of the glow seems to vary.
Will see what support can suggest.

Finally before i go to bed.....
Molefays seem to glow for one frame longer:
