Basically what the subject line states.
In the live view you can't see it, but when rendering a scene with the new smoke. The smoke bands a lot.
Attached an image with the issue exactly.

Render (4K)
It's not very noticeable with these images previews, but when looking at the raw render from Capture it's very obvious.
Steps to reproduce.
1. Add some washes to your design. 2. Add the new smoke into your scene 3. Use these smoke settings (Density = 10%, Variation = 75%, Edge softness = 65%) 4. Render a still or press CTRL+I inside the live view. (PNG) 5. Look at the resulting image.
Using latest Capture 2026 download.
Are you working on a Mac by any chance?
We have been looking at your images now a bit but can't really make out what you mean. We can't see any banding, at least in the sence we're used to it meaning. The quality of the smoke is more rips in the render, with greater contrasts, if that is what you mean? This may sound silly, but perhaps you could take a photo of your screen as well, because that could play into things.
