Hi everyone,

I’m encountering an issue with Capture 2025 (latest version).

I was previously using an external console to control my fixtures in the 3D view. After disconnecting the console, I am unable to control my fixtures manually within the software. The Pan, Tilt, and Dimmer parameters do not respond anymore when I try to adjust them directly in the Selection tab.

It seems like the DMX data from the console is still "overriding" or locking the manual controls, even though the console is no longer connected.

How can I "release" the DMX control or reset the fixtures so I can use the manual Design tools again?

Thanks for your help!

In the project window click:

universes / more / reset levels.

this also works if you have fixtures that are on, but they aren't selected or you just don't know why they are still on - it just rests everything to 0.

cheers

Good evening, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, it’s not working; I’ve already tried that several times without any luck. I feel like I have to overwrite my file and start all over again... sigh Thanks again!

I finally found a solution: I created a new blank file and re-imported the corrupted one into it. Now, everything is working perfectly again.

I think there is a serious bug regarding this issue. It’s 'solved' without really being fixed; the administrators should definitely look into it.

Best regards

As well as what Rabbit said about using the Reset External Universes and Reset Levels, you should check that you've turned off any Project Console Link, as that will also disable manually adjusting levels.

Hello, thank you for the information. Unfortunately, I tried both and nothing worked. To get it working again, I have to create a new file and re-import the problematic file. The system doesn't revert to manual control after an external command. I spent two days on it without any success. The developers really should look into this minor bug.

I would suggest sending your broken showfile to support@capture.se so they can look at it directly, and you will also get personal support. if it is a bug then that will help them identify what and where it's happening.

Otherwise sharing the broken showfile (if it's not anything particularly NDA'ed or sensitive) someone might be able to see what's happened to prevent manual control over fixtures when not receiving any data andno project console link is active.

Have you checked using an sACN viewer (or Artnet viewer if you are using that) and check if the Universes are actually all off when you switch off the external control.
