Having recently gone though the very tedious process of building a grid-like hanging structure over a whole theatre, so it could hang lights, report location etc, it would be a huge step forward if you would allow lines imported from a CAD program to auto-magically become hanging pipe structures.
WYSIWYG has had this feature since at least R26 (about 2011).

Theatres that have this kind of configuration and structure are common where I'm from, and I am not wanting to go through this again....

cheers

Assuming that your grid consist of single straight pipes, these could be replaced with bars in Capture. You will need each line to come into Capture as a separate object. How that happens will depend on how you import. If you're using DWG then you might be best of making sure that each line is a separate block in the DWG. Once you have each line in Capture as a separate object, select them all and replace with bars. You will still need to correct the length of the bars, but presumably they don't vary that wildy.
