would be very useful to be able to add text/images/annotations directly in CAD view and not only in in the plot editor. it is a basic feature in most CAD programs...you could also expand it to something similiar to the 'callout' feature in vectorworks which is amazing.
Most of this is already possible. You can add an annotation to any object, just write something in the Unit property. You can also add images, use the Image object from the library, under Built-in / Dimensioning.
Hello Lars,
As far as I can see, its only the image that will also appear in the wireframe, but text from either the UNIT field, and text from the LOCATION field will appear in the plot view, as long as plot annotation is set to yes.
Could you clarify exactly what the UNIT field is meant for?
In a previous lx program I used, UNIT meant the fixtures on a hanging structure in a specific order, and ONLY on that structure. A different hanging structure would have the sequence restart. If a fixture was removed or added, then units would re-number.
But in Capture:
It can accept either text or numbers, but these are not unique to the object its associated to - ie it can't be an unique ID.
It pops up as an option for entering in a sequential manner, as in fixtures on a bar or boom, but it will happily sequentially tag any selected objects regadless of position.
The Export Focus Sheets command won't work unless the UNIT field is filled in.
It apparently used to be a field that held the location property of a fixture for reports.
There are no doubt many more ways its tied into the program...
It seems to be a universal tool to annotate anything, in a sequential manner if applied that way.?
I have no preference for what it does, I just want to understand what it is you intend?
thanks
