Dear Capture Team,

I was expecting exciting updates in Capture 2025, but pixel tape support still feels limited.
Custom-length tapes require multiple texture generators, patching across DMX universes is cumbersome, and generators don’t appear in the fixture tab, complicating workflows.

Please consider:

  • Native custom-length pixel tape fixtures

  • Automatic universe spanning for large arrays

  • Fixture tab integration for easier patching

These enhancements would streamline complex LED designs and meet industry demands...
I think most of designers here will agree.

Thanks for your attention!

A different approach could be to have texture generators throw light like a normal fixture.
this way complex shapes could be imported from other software and converted to LED tape.
Maybe add an option "convert line to LED tape" in addition to "Convert line to pipe"
If this is technically challeging with multiple pixels, I think a lot of users would already be helped with
Custom LED tapes that omit light with just RGB, and no idividual emiters.

I really like both you suggestions as a good solution to this problem!

Speaking as someone working in the TV/Movie/Commercial market, the idea for a pixel tape of variable length would be an extremely useful addition. No need to render individual pixels. Just the entire tape glowing. I would add: in addition to just R/G/B profiles, have a selection of industry standards. For instance I/R/G/B, WW/CW, WW/CW/R/G/B, etc. Check the LiteGear LiteRibbon product line for examples. They sell many thousands of feet of this stuff and hundreds of ballasts to us each year. As always I am happy to help out with any technical questions about these products, as an end user.

Also when running fully pixel controlled led strips, capture seems to have high perfomance issues.

I think if this is fixed it could meet a lot of industry standards.
