It feels like only the first phase of the cabling function has been implemented. It feels very unfinished. But at the other hand I feel it might be better to wait a little bit. As this seems like a perfect task for AI to perform.
With so many known factors in a plot it must be relatively easy for an AI to calculate the shortest or most elegant way to get your stuff connected.
Known factors:
- position of the light
- type of power and data connectors on each light
- power factor on each light
- number of dmx parameters on each light
- truss/pipe height
- truss/pipe length
Unknown factors:
- Location of power city/dim city
- Location of data distribution
- available cable lengths
These last things need to be added to a pot before you can let the computer do the math.
Now we also need a more clear way of labeling the bundles of cable. Maybe it would be easier to color code them. In any case adding a new label for every time a cable makes a corner makes it very cluttered.
