If you have a Solo license for Capture, you might be out of luck. This version only supports one universe even if the universe is half empty.

Hej

Oh no. I wasn’t aware of that limitation with the solo licence!
Trying to find out which license one need then to get as many universes as one need.

Thanks for the answer.
Best
Thomas.

I’ve argued before on this forum, that maybe Capture should rethink this as it makes more sense to have a dmx address limitation rather then a universe limitation. As nodes become less and less expensive, you see a universe per truss becoming more and more common.

Whether your design takes up 512 channels on a single universe or 512 channels across 512 universes, you still only have 512 channels to control. So it's pretty irrelivant which version they license by. Also, if you're using fixtures in modes that use a full universe, then solo will still only allow you to use a single fixture (duet 2 fixtures or quartet 4 fixtures), you still need a bigger license.

Re-patching your fixtures for a show that would fit in a limited license (solo, duet, quartet) really won't take you very long on any modern console.
