could there be a way, to assist capture assigning the prefered fixture when importing?

selecting the correct, lens, mode, settings via a hash that can be put in user defined fields within vectorworks would be helpful to make the import seamless, as i now have to do much manual work.

for a current project, i have to do planing inside vectoworks, but want to pre programm with capture. changes take a ton of time each time :(

this could be also be used to assign diffrent devices between vectorworks and capture, as its sometimes pretty annoying how some things work or visualize

cheers benjamin

Once you have done an initial import from Vectorworks, your fixture types and modes should stay associated. You should be able to import it as an update. If not, this should definitely be on the feature request list!

i just came back to the issue, and no, when reimporting, i need to reassign all of it

as the vectorworks library is shit, and it is not easy to rename the fixtures, things are quite labourious and annoying

both librarys are using quite diffrent naming schemes, even worse when i have to use drop in fixture in vectorworks, where i actually started to write over almost all the names from the generated fixture legend

it sometimes the most basic shit that gets interpreted wrong, can we have a setting in capture to select a field from the fixture to look up the name to search? so we could use custom field 1 to 5 to assist the assignment.

here an example of how stupid things are...

how can this become an LED2?!

Part of the problem is that there is no such thing as "custom field 1 to 5" in neither the MVR nor the GDTF of the fixture. The information available both in the MVR and GDTF files is extremely limited.

We are working on making sure that Capture remembers your last association so you don't have to reselect every time. That should improve things a lot!
