Fixture channel definitions

Hi i have a "howto" question on fixtures.
How can i check on a fixture the channel definition (f.e. ch1=pan, ch2=tilt, etc).
I only see the modes of the fixtures with of channels.
This info is very useful to check if an missing fixture already exists in the library f.e. with another brand name.

Alpha origin for DMX Rotators

I cannot find in the manual what the Alpha origin parameter of a DMX Rotator does. I am trying to reverse the rotation of a rotator so movement matches that of the opposite side of the stage.

What are best practices as it comes to using .mvr file exchanges (between Capture and Vectorworks).
Should I only use Design Layers in Vectorworks
Should I move all my classes into design layers before exporting
Should I use normal Vectorwork fixtures or rather the GDTF ones
How about going back and forth between VectorWorks and Capture If I change a channel number in Capture, how do I make sure it also changes in Vectorworks
I can do all this between Wyswiyg R48 and Vectorwo...
