Upgrading to Capture 2026
For those of you already using Capture 2025, these details are relevant when transitioning to Capture 2026.
System requirements
Capture for Windows now requires Windows 11 or higher.
Capture for macOS no longer supports Intel GPUs.
Fixture data import and export
The “Patch” column that previously exported has been replaced with a “DMX Universe” and a “DMX Channel” column.
A new set of four columns called “DMX Universe #2”, “DMX Channel #2”, “DMX Mode #2” and “DMX Channels #2” has been added. It carries patch information for secondary patch points.
Plots and fixtures
Plot symbol usage of front mounts and yokes is now controlled through the fixture they are attached to. In such assemblies, all fixtures need to have a symbol assigned or else none of them will be shown with a symbol.
We have gone through and corrected the placement of annotations with regard to scaling (through symbols, fixture properties and plot styles), vertical offsets and combinations of symbols in fixture assemblies. As a result some annotations may not render at the exact same location any more and require manual adjustments.
Report items
Report items are no longer patchable unless they have a channel count assigned.
Smoke boxes
The new smoke model is enabled by default in new projects.
For existing projects it needs to be turned on manually. This is done by selecting any smoke box and setting the "Legacy Model" property to "No". Following this you are likely going to need to adjust the smoke density and possibly also camera exposure adjustment of your live view(s).
Fixture focus simulation
Fixture focusing (edge / sharpness) now visualises as sharp at 50%, at the mid point between near and far.
