An update on macOS and Intel GPUs

In a blog post the 4th of January we described GPU driver issues in macOS that prevent us from supporting Intel GPUs on macOS in Capture 2020.

The latest update on the matter is that Apple have informed us that they are waiting for Intel to address these issues.

Embracing glTF

Capture 2020 will feature support for the powerful new glTF 3D file format.

While glTF, the "JPEG of 3D", is still young it is being embraced by the 3D industry at a remarkable pace. It will enable seamless model interchange with Blender.

Future macOS GPU compatibility

Due to bugs in Apple's Metal drivers, our upcoming Capture 2020 release may only support AMD GPUs. GPUs from Intel and NVidia will likely have to be explicitly unsupported until Apple release macOS updates that resolve the bugs.
